Jeffrey M. Smith

Jeffrey M. Smith has been active in the field of genetically modified (GM) foods for a decade. He has written the internationally bestselling book Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies About the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods You Are Eating. Jeffrey Smith has spoken worldwide on known problems with genetic modification and the failures to do follow up research. He has great knowledge and experience of the risks and cover-ups behind GM foods. He has spoken widely on this subject for the last two years, and gave an authoritative and stimulating NOHA lecture on October 16, 2005—his last before he retires for a couple of years to write two books.

Smith is the founder and director of the Institute for Responsible Technology. He has a masters degree in business administration and lives with his wife in Iowa.
